(English) Neverending Spam – The US Top 3 Spam Numbers

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Leider ist der Eintrag nur auf Amerikanisches Englisch verfügbar.

Here are the most annoying spam numbers that have been harassing US citizens during the last week:

1. 3604615083 from Port Angeles with a tellows score of 7
2. 7574479265 from Norfolk with a tellows score of 8
3. 07788209043 mobile phone number with a tellows score of 9

Luckily, the phone preacher did not return so far and, of course, we hope that our work contributed to make an end to this nuisance.

But there are other spammers and scammers only waiting for you to pick up the phone. Both numbers on rank 1 and 2 were one rank lower last week.

There are no new reports on last week’s spam number 1. The only thing we can say for sure is that this is an automated dialer.

We have got very useful comments on the scammer on rank 2. Everybody watch out, this is a number phishing for information!

TH3 reported:

Text sd Please contact 7574479265 BofA 435603XX Card Issue. I don’t have a BofA card. Sounds fishy to me.

Mad in Dallas added:

Scam trying to get Bank of America account information. New version of scam tried about 2 weeks ago.

And finally mchoate had fun with this number:

someone that is trying to get debit/credit card numbers. it is a scam. I called BOA. they took the information. when you call the number back it ask for you to put in your cc/dc. I had fun with it and just put in random numbers… about 50 times! Then I BLOCKED their text.

Did the PPI scam wave already reach the US? So far, we have only heard of this happening in the UK. The 3rd most wanted spam number is offering clients to claim back money from their PP-insurance. Read more about this scam method on our UK blog.

Kind regards!

A stitch in time saves nine. A look at tellows in time saves you from nine. Nine? … Starting off with position number 3 of our most wanted numbers of the week, we can see that we have a cold caller from Sparks there with a tellows score of 9. Annoying people with their calls and refusing to remove people’s numbers from their list – that’s the way they work.

Rank two goes to an unknown caller from Colorado/Denver area. We have no further information about the number, only that this number is making ping calls. Only one comment, but the number of search requests (239) gives a hint that there might be more to tell…

On rank 1: A Dalaware number obviously operating worldwide. So far, we received comments from America, Asia and Europe.

1. 3023573644 from Delaware with a tellows score of 6
2. 3015953840 form Colorado/Denver area with a tellows score of 9
3. 7024754857 from Sparks with a tellows score of 9

I live in the Netherlands (Europe)
While talking on the phone I received a secondary call from number +13023573644.
When I called the number to know who called me, it went straight to a pre-recorded message from a female voice asking for an authorization code!!?
Very Fishy!!!

Iqbal wrote:

Seems too fishy, but you never know.

Addi commented:

i received call from that number 26 may, and i was unable to pick that number, Iam from pakistan

We hope to find out more about all numbers, but especially about the one from Colorado/Denver area.

We’re looking forward to reading more of your comments!

(English) The Phobia of the Most Wanted – Nuisance Calls remain a Threat the Well-being of the USA’s and UK’s peoples

Another week passed and the spams and scams continued nearly unopposed. However, the tellows database grows continuously and provides vital information on the most wicked telphone numbers there are. Here they come, the Most wanted of the US‘ and UK’s scam and spam numbers:

1. 01613126506 from Manchester with a tellows score of 8
2. 01792455426 from Swansea with a tellows score of 8
3. 01172090021 from Bristol with a tellows score of 7

The setup of this week’s most annoying telephone numbers seems rather familiar. The Manchester number enjoys great attention as the high amount of over 3000 search requests indicates. Swansea follows suit with 2512 search requests. Both of the numbers mentioned before dwarf the 500 requests of the Bristol number which seems rather like a newcomer. The quantity of calls from the Bristol number in the last few days, however, earned it a place in the UK’s Most Wanted spam and scam calls.

Bob offered a most helpful comment

Multiple, daily calls regarding payment protection insurance, which I have never purchased. Pre-recorded message. Pressing ‚9‘ for automated opt-out has no effect. Extremely persistent and annoying.

1. 3605296156 from Washington with a tellows score of 8
2. 6518293110 from Minnesota with a tellows score of 8
3. 2132615790 from Los Angeles with a tellows score of 8

In the USA there has only been a slight change in the rankings. The Washington spammers may have outpaced their Minnesota counterparts but on the end of the day a pain in the back remains a pain in the back.

Just got a call from this number. Woman said, „We need your attorney’s information.“ I said, „What are you talking about?“ to which she stated, „Are you aware you have a lawsuit and charges being filed against (stated my name and social security number) and told me to call back 1-323-513-8685 and ask for their attorney Michael Carcer and he would explain everything.

I kept asking whom she worked for and she kept saying Legal Fees. This number showed up on my caller ID as Los Angeles, CA. None of this sounded correct so I checked out here first. As I was checking I called the number and a recording says it is „no longer in service.“ So, 1) this is the same Indian call center that was calling me about a month ago to give me an auto loan I never applied for and who has my information (scary), 2) the incoming number was spoofed, and 3) this is most definitely a scam. I will turn them over to FCC and State Attorney’s office if they call me again.

Let not fraudsters dictate! As long as there niches they can hide in they will continue their dirty work. Report your findings to tellows and render their spam numbers and, therewith, their niches useless!

As weeks fly by we grow weary of all those nuisance calls yet they seem only to increase in number and in strength. PPI claims and sweepstakes dominate their useless talk and their sweet whispers of great deals only cause nausea and a sudden urge to recap what we had for dinner. The authories remain idle and we have to fend off the Most Wanted Spam and Scam calls from the UK and USA.

Here the UK’s Most Wanted:

1. 01872277700 form Truro with a tellows score of 8
2. 01613126506 from Manchester with a tellows score of 8
3. 01172090021 from Bristol with a tellows score of 7

UNBELIEVABLE !!! The Manchester PPI company has been dethroned! The Truro based loan company and its agents paramounted even the annoying Manchester champion dwarfed its Bristol competitors.

Our user Mark commented:

These are a dodgy loan company! I applied for a loan before university in 2002 and they still pester me! They are mugs as well, the only thing they are good for is shouting abuse at. Me friend actually signed up and they took £80 from his account and then said he got declined for a loan! Disgusting!!

Let’s see how’s life across the Atlantic Ocean.

1. 3605296156 from Washington with a tellows score of 9
2. 6518293110 from Minnesota with a tellows score of 8
3. 2132615790 from Los Angeles with a tellows score of 8

All quiet on the Western Front. Apart from an increase in annoyed people the American spammers and scammers enjoyed a splendid week of exciting harassments and frauds. If you hope to disrupt their amusement spread the information on those numbers or make it your amusement

(English) The do not call list… Or not? – Telemarketers and Scammers, the phone calling machines, still wasting the time of the people of the USA & UK.

Yet another week of enforcing their unsolicited calls that waste peoples time and wake them up late at night. They only aim to rob you off, and they get angry when you tell them you are on the do not call list!
The shocking thing is that their fake offers and scams still work on some people. Thus, we aim to point them out to people and raise awareness that might save someones saving account.

These are the most wanted Scam and Spam numbers in the UK this week:

1. 01613126506 from Manchester with a tellows score of 9

2. 01792455426 from Swansea with a tellows score of 7

Another week for a Manchester Scammers in the lead. The first place goes to a telemarketer trying to get information from her victims. The second place is for a caller who often tends to hang up the phone before talking. And the last place goes to calls regarding fake payment protection insurance.

Meanwhile, the most wanted numbers of the USA are:

1. 3605296156 from Western – Washington with a tellows score of 9

2. 6518293110 from St. Paul – Minnesota with a tellows score of 9

3. 2132615790 from Los Angeles with a tellows score of 9

Scammers are pretty active in the USA where the Washington number continues to harass people across the states. the second place caller offers $1 million prizes for his customers, whereas the third place goes to Los Angeles, a more violent caller who threatens people with putting them in jail if they do not pay.

The last week proved to be awash with the chatter of super motivated call centre agents. Their talk of PPI claims, alleged high quality products and other trivial subjects made our ears bleed. In their arrogance they keep ringing our phones, landline as well as mobile, and strike with waves of silent calls and pre-recorded messages. The authorities on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean are impotent at best and grant the call centres leave to do as they please. The least we can do is to share what we know of the perpetrators and warn our fellow folk about the most dangerous numbers. Here they come, the Most Wanted Spam and Scam Numbers of the UK:

1. 01616567957 from Manchester with a tellows score of 6

2. 01268297656 from Basildon with a tellows score of 7

3. 02070603887 from London with a tellows score of 7

This is a cold calling computer attached to a call centre. The computer automatically calls random generated numbers then once you answer it logs your number in a database of active phone numbers and will call back. When they did get through is was call centre staff trying to hook you in for making a claim against miss-sold payment protection insurance

This week’s UK pole position is championed yet again by a Manchester company. Well, that’s what we are meant to believe. It’s TalkTalk operating from call centres based abroad in order sale upgrades and other trivia. Obviously Opus Credit employees are more motivated than other call centre agents since they occupy the 2nd place for several weeks now. Last but not least is a newcomer from London luring the ignorant into their web of PPI claims.

Now let’s have a look at the New World.

1. 3605296156 from Minnesota with a tellows score of 8

2. 2064960410 from Washington with a tellows score of 9

3. 6518293110 from Seattle with a tellows score of 8

They called me saying that I was selected to win $1 million dollars and at first it sounded reasonable but as the phone call progressed it was clear it was a scam. They wanted to know my bank and if I had a Visa Master Card. Then they tried to get me to buy magazines. I tried to decline and someone hung up on me. I called back to reassure I wasn’t going to recieve or end up paying for something I didn’t ask for and I was informed I wouldn’t. I should have just hung up I know, but I’m young and made a dumb mistake. Since this phone call, people have been calling my around the clock.

The sweepstakes scam is still one of Most Wanted phone numbers in the USA. The Washington number harasses people without end and, unfortunetely, even less is known about disruptive elements from Seattle.

What does that tell us? Share more info!

(English) The Silence of the Phones – An Utopia? Hardly. At least as Long as The Most Wanted Spam and Scam Phone Numbers Retain Their Unsolicited Onslaught on our Nerves.

Weeks have passed but the world of telecommunication changed only a little if at all. Callcentre agents thrive on the ignorance of the common people. So let us spread the news of the UK’s Most Wanted spam and scam numbers:

1. 03333440125 Premium Rate Service with a tellows score of 7
2. 01268297656 from Basildon with a tellows score of 7
3. 08446882777 Premium Rate Service with a tellows score of 7

It seems Payment Shield is on a sales hunt. Closely follows by Basildon’s Opus Credit and last but not least a silent caller who still needs to be identified.

Our user Ian commented:

2. 905488209664 tellows Score 7
3. 9722178347 tellows Score 9

None of the above mentioned numbers is new to us. A still unidentified caller from Dalles goes first, a $1m lottery scam following in hot pursuit. Last but not least, the De Soto based Metro News Service, Inc grinds the peoples gears with repetetive calls.

That’s it for this week.

As the weeks fly by the scammers and spammers of the world continue to harass the common folk without mercy. Their furious charge into the midst of our private lives leaves our domestic peace shaken and prone to a nervous collapse. As we struggle to keep our tempers in check the authorities measures to tackle the unsolicited intrusions remain quasi non-existent. Hence, we need to help ourselves.

Here are the UK’s Most Wanted:

1. 03333440125 from a Premium Rate Service with a tellows score of 7
2. 02920822696 from Cardiff with a tellows score of 8
3. 01268297656 from Basildon with a tellows score of 7

In terms of annoyance last week’s premium rate service number is still top of the notch. However, Basildon was demoted to 3rd place by Cardiff’s mobile contract hunter. Nonetheless, Opus Credit did also quite a good job for you obviously still despise them.

Unfortunately, the great Atlantic isn’t the barrier it used to be. People in the USA suffer the same nuisance calls as their English counterparts.

2. 2124485501 from New York with a tellows score of 6

2. 01268297656 from Basildon with a tellows score of 7

This week’s pole position is held by a yet to be identified phone number. Over 1990 search request in only five days obviously indicate a intense motivation to harass people. Second, a self-proclaimed Opus Credit Card enquires personal information and last but not least another premium rate service spreads the PPI nuisance.

(English) A Scam Method Walkthrough Mk I – You Better Know What You Are Dealing With: Nuisance Calls

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Leider ist der Eintrag nur auf Amerikanisches Englisch verfügbar.

Nuisance Calls – The UK’s Approach

In general, all forms of nuisance calls are unsolicited. Whereas telesales calls employ a vehement form of aggressive advertisment, silent calls are meant to identify valid phone numbers from a pool of randomly generated numbers. Furthermore, automated diallers are often used when the call centre is short on agents. To identitfy silent calls, call centres are required to display a Calling Line Identification number on your phone in order to allow you to aquire the caller’s phone number by dialling 1471. Once the number is obtianed, it is advised to forward this number to Ofcom (use Silent Calls Complaint Form). With sufficient complaints Ofcom will find it easier to counteract the dubious schemes of callcenters and other suspicoius companies. Additionally, it is recommended to contact your provider which might help to identify the caller as well. Moreover, your provider may offer a ‘anonymous call rejection’ (check if this service is charged) to prevent a vast bulk of unsolicited calls in the future.

As far as telesales calls are concerned, a registration with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) bears the advantage of having the legal upper hand against call centres since the TPS makes unsolicited calls to you unlawful within the 28 days after you registration. Not only will the TPS will contact the company involved but also it will relay your complaint to the ICO which, in return, can enforce adequate regulations. If you experience unsolicited faxes you can register with the Facsimile Preference Service. Unfortunately, neither Ofcom nor the TPS have authority outside the UK’s borders. Hence, telesales calls from abroad cannot be stopped.

Furthermore, if you think the call centre obtained your personal information illegally the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) gladly provides detailed guidelines on the protection of your privacy in electronic communications. Additionally, complaints about nuisance calls, spam fax and mail may be filed directly with ICO. In all these cases you should share as much information with Ofcom, your provider an tellows on the caller as you can. Yet
