The scammer claimed that they had medicine people could take for coronavirus and started asking about personal information, the former police officer knew right away something didn’t add up. - FTC stated that currently there are no vaccines, pills, potions, lotions, lozenges or other prescription or over-the-counter products available to treat or cure Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). If a scammer is offerring the above products, then it is definitely a scam.
- Be alert when caller claims to be from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or experts saying they have information about the virus. Please go to the official CDC website for the latest details of the coronavirus.
- If you receive calls claiming from the charity – please double check before donation, search for the organization and make sure it is valid.
