Stop Wasting Our Time! – The Top Three Most Annoying Spammers Don’t Quit so Easily Though…

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

This week was a bit different than usually. The most annoying callers seem to have changed their strategies.
Let’s see what they did this week..

1. 2407871342 from Brandywine with a tellows score of 8
2. 3015953840 form Beltsville with a tellows score of 9
3. 3526883689 from Brooksville with a tellows score of 5

The number one spammer has been calling people more than 10 times a day, he’s also calling a newborn’s mother late at night, taking away valuable minutes from both of them.

The second however is creepy.. doing nothing but breathing is frightening one of our users.

The third is a typical telemarketer trying to take some of your money somehow.

mike reported:

i have been getting calls from this number for the last 2 day i got 22 calls in 2 days when you pick up there is nobody there then i hang up and i get anew number 201-477-1729 its nuts

Whereas newmommy said:

Getting calls all the time, also at night when my newborn should sleep… I call back and get a hang up. The calls are chewing up my minutes and my nerves!

Stay tuned for next week and have a nice spam free weekend hopefully!!

Same Spam, New Week … The Tops Are The Flops

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Let us look at what has changed or not during the past week in the US…

1. 2532468514 from Tacoma / Washington with a tellows score of 6

2. 3233319189 from Los Angeles with a tellows score of 8

3. 2132616494 from Los Angeles with a tellows score of 8

Last week’s number 1 one stayed where it was, whereas number 3 spammer from Los Angeles worked his way up to rank 2.

There is a newbie of the week on rank 3: it is obviously a debt collection company situated in Los Angeles.

A user named Seriously reported us already in April:

Guy on the other end wanted to arrest me this morning. Got no idea where he took my number and address from. hung up on him, never had any debts or whatsoever he was claiming

Wrong person to call wrote the latest comment on the number:

I got a call just like u guys. I am reporting it to every news ch i know of.. please everyone http://www.myfoxla.com/subindex/about_us/contact_us

go here and put it under news idea.this is some bull shiiiit

We say goodbye for this week… and hope the spammers will shut up as well.

A Spammer Foreseen Is a Spammer Avoided

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

We’re back with news of the week’s most wanted, most annoying and most suspicious numbers. Ping calls and debt frauds have been disturbing people’s lives this week.

Here are the US spammers of the week:

1. 2532468514 from Tacoma / Washington with a tellows score of 6

2. 2603993723 from Indiana with a tellows score of 5

3. 2132616494 from Los Angeles with a tellows score of 8

The scammers from Los Angeles probably tried to frighten a user with nickname Seriously. He reported:

Guy on the other end wanted to arrest me this morning. Got no idea where he took my number and address from. hung up on him, never had any debts or whatsoever he was claiming

… Scammers all over the world have been using this tick to get money from people who fell for them. Please remember that no serious company would claim money from you only by calling you on the phone!

Yet, our favourite spammer of the week seems to do ping calls only…

Barb reported:

Called 4 times today and leaves no message. It is very annoying when your at work and your cell phone keeps going off.

Take care, friends and fellows!!! Have a nice and spamless weekend!

Mind Your Tongue – America’s Most Wanted Spam and Scam Callers

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Another week passed with all quiet on the landline front – at least in terms of change. The fraudsters remain as relentless as the weeks before. Beware, good folks of America… they are after you!!! Fortunately, thousands of honourable citizens stand out and oppose this unsolicited annoyance and provide the information needed warn the people prior the con.

Here are the results:

1. 6518293110 from St. Paul / Minnesota with a tellows score of 8

2. 2187242094 from Duluth with a tellows score of 6

3. 3233319189 from Los Angeles with a tellows score of 9

peter warned:

These people have been calling my phone for the past week at least three times a day all day long. They never leave a message. I called the number back to see who it was and the automated recording picked up and it said it was a company called teleresources, but nothing else about why they called

The St. Pauls number is an old vet in terms of nuisance calls. Their promises of wealth lure unaware citizens into fee-required subscriptions and leech their bank accounts dry. Unfortunately, we know only little about the number from Duluth, but thanks to peter we know at least the company name “teleresources”. Last but not least, a debt collection company intends to grind the people’s nerves to dust.

someone keeps on calling my job saying that they have information on me. and that they are going to have the police come out and get me. i told them that they are a scam and i am going to call the police regarding them keep on harrassing me at work. twice in one day other number was 508 202 7204, this one said i was involved in a hit and run. LIE i dont know how people can do this and do there best an try too scare people.

Take care, friends of tellows !!! Do not let them get you unawares !!!

A Scam Method Walkthrough Mk I – You Better Know What You Are Dealing With: Nuisance Calls

Facebooktwitterredditpinteresttumblrmail

Nuisance Calls – The UK’s Approach

In general, all forms of nuisance calls are unsolicited. Whereas telesales calls employ a vehement form of aggressive advertisment, silent calls are meant to identify valid phone numbers from a pool of randomly generated numbers. Furthermore, automated diallers are often used when the call centre is short on agents. To identitfy silent calls, call centres are required to display a Calling Line Identification number on your phone in order to allow you to aquire the caller’s phone number by dialling 1471. Once the number is obtianed, it is advised to forward this number to Ofcom (use Silent Calls Complaint Form). With sufficient complaints Ofcom will find it easier to counteract the dubious schemes of callcenters and other suspicoius companies. Additionally, it is recommended to contact your provider which might help to identify the caller as well. Moreover, your provider may offer a ‘anonymous call rejection’ (check if this service is charged) to prevent a vast bulk of unsolicited calls in the future.

As far as telesales calls are concerned, a registration with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) bears the advantage of having the legal upper hand against call centres since the TPS makes unsolicited calls to you unlawful within the 28 days after you registration. Not only will the TPS will contact the company involved but also it will relay your complaint to the ICO which, in return, can enforce adequate regulations. If you experience unsolicited faxes you can register with the Facsimile Preference Service. Unfortunately, neither Ofcom nor the TPS have authority outside the UK’s borders. Hence, telesales calls from abroad cannot be stopped.

Furthermore, if you think the call centre obtained your personal information illegally the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) gladly provides detailed guidelines on the protection of your privacy in electronic communications. Additionally, complaints about nuisance calls, spam fax and mail may be filed directly with ICO. In all these cases you should share as much information with Ofcom, your provider an tellows on the caller as you can. Yet
